Claudia Hawkins
Title: Dream Leaders Coordinator
Childhood dream: To be kickball champion of the world!
Claudia is a recent graduate of St. Mary’s College and left the beautiful Bay Area in California with a B.S., in Developmental Psychology, and came to Chicago for new opportunities.
Claudia uprooted herself to force change and new beginnings in an unknown and very cold place. Claudia thinks Chicago has been a wonderful place though to meet new people, find new organizations to work, and to pursue my goal of working with at-risk youth.
Claudia has spent years volunteering with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters Bay Area, Best Buddies, Partners in Reading, Salvation Army, and St. Juan Diego Women’s Center. She hopes to turn her passion in life of lending a hand to those that need one into a career.
Claudia has been fortunate enough to travel to Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Ireland, and a few summers ago traveled by motor home along with her 6 siblings to Canada from California. Claudia’s most recent trip was to her mother’s hometown in Guanajuato, Mexico and she truly fell in love with the people. She hopes to one day volunteer in Mexico at an orphanage and come back to the states and open a homeless shelter for families.
Clauda is very honored to be working with DFK and know that she will gain so much knowledge and insight about the youth Dreams For Kids works with.
