Title: ’10 Campaign’ Marketing Outreach Coordinator

Childhood Dream: To be the owner of the Chicago Cubs

When Jason was in high school he helped to start a club called Friends and Company. This club mentored mentally handicapped children, helping them adapt to high school , and meeting twice a month. First activity of the month, they would teach the children to adapt to real life situations, like a trip to the mall or job hunting. The second activity was geared towards school, attending sports events or school plays. This club was created to make a difference in the school, to make the students feel just like any other student. By the time Jason graduated there was close to 50-60 members! The club lives on through the memory of one of its founders, who lost her life senior year. Jason, as one of the co-founders, kept her tradition alive with the club.

Jason has always loved working with children. He worked at a day camp every summer as a teenager all the way to the age of twenty six. He loved what they stood for, they believed that the kids could do whatever they dreamed. He became close with many of the campers and was saddened when in 1998, he lost one of his campers to leukemia. His last summer was in 2000.

After he stopped working at camp, Jason thought he would peruse the restaurant business and has been in that field for the majority of this life. In 2006, he decided to go back to school. School was a difficult venture for Jason because of his lifelong learning disability. Jason worked hard and persevered and finally graduated in 2009. He felt reinvented and rejuvenated.

Jason is truly excited to start his work here at Dreams for Kids, as he has always loved helping others but, never knew the right approaches were until now.
