Laura Carrillo
Title: Extreme Recess Coordinator
Childhood dream: To own my own bakery and marry a prince
Laura is currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is majoring in Psychology and hopes to join the ranks of the Peace Corps or Teach for America after graduating. Laura is a coordinator for the U of I chapter of BestBuddies.Org., an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting one-on-one friendships between individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and able-bodied individuals, particularly students, in their communities.
Laura is part of a large family and is happiest playing hide and seek, tag, or anything surrounded by laughing (and screaming) kids. She loves reading, writing, traveling, and enjoying good music and movies. She has seen every episode of Lost and will always have a crush on Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez from The Sandlot.
Laura is thrilled and honored to be a part of the Dreams For Kids team and have a role in an organization that allows kids, those both able-bodied and those living with disabilities, to realize their self-worth and empower themselves.
