June is Education Month for our Dream Leaders, so we are ending the month with an event to bring all the Dream Leaders together while collecting books and school supplies for Clara’s House Homeless Shelter.  Dream Leaders will come together from every corner of the city for a pool party, BBQ, and chance to reconnect with their Dream Leaders friends.  The only entry fee is a new or gently used book.  Email abby@dreamsforkids.org to attend.

Dreams for Kids Open Mic Night Fundraiser

Join us as local musicians and performers come together to create a diverse and wildly entertaining benefit concert for Dreams for Kids. The show will consist of three bands, various comedy, sketches, performance art, and an open mic to close out the evening.  This is a great way to hear amazing music and meet new people while supporting Dreams for Kids.  There will be a $10 Donation at the door. Our Dream Leaders from Glenbrook South High School have been working hard to plan the Tour De South fundraiser for our Extreme Recess Program after being inspired to end the isolation of kids with disabilities at the Dream Leaders Conference they attended. Tour de South is a fun race where all participants must be on at least three wheels, so bring your wagons, skateboards, rollerblades, wheelchairs, etc. and get ready to wheel along a mapped out path with live music around Glenbrook South High School. Dream Leaders Celebrate Global Youth Service Day

The Dream Leaders celebrate Global Youth Service Day by coming together to make a difference in our communities.  We will team up with City Year to go to Waters Elementary School to help them make Uthando dolls for children in South Africa (www.uthandoproject.org ), as well as some landscaping and gardening. Dreams for Kids brings Easter joy to the children at Clara’s House homeless shelter, celebrating with a bunny, easter egg hunt, and baskets for all the kids.  Participants will be paying it forward by making Easter baskets for other kids in need of hope during the Easter holiday.

Dream Leaders Give Back Spring Break

Dream Leaders joins forces with the non-profit organization Kid Power Inc. as they visit Chicago to help give back to our city. Students not going out of town for Spring Break will use the time off school to do something positive for their communities. Tuesday’s event is an Amazing Race around Chicago surrounding the theme of positive social change. Wednesday, Dream Leaders will help kids with disabilities experience rock climbing through our Extreme Recess program, and Thursday, we will be cleaning the backyard of Clara’s House to make a nice place for the children to play. Monday Night with the Kids will be teaming up with our Dream Leaders to spread joy to homeless children at Clara’s House.  Monday Night with the Kids is an organization founded to help children from underprivileged areas by providing exciting experiences with positive male role models. Teaming up with community centers and tutor programs, MNWK offers unique opportunities for the children in the centers and programs to interact with celebrities and entertainers. Through these events MNWK aims to provide children with a safe retreat and exciting new experiences.
