Extreme Recess
"After my daughter became a part of your sports program, she stopped thinking about what she couldn’t do, but what she could do… being ABLE to do so many things including rock climbing, water skiing, kayaking, etc. all with one arm has changed her life (and mine as well)!
~ Karen, Mom of Greta — Age 16, below elbow amputee
Extreme Recess gives children with physical and developmental challenges the opportunity to participate in sports, often for the very first time. Adaptive sporting events from snow and water-skiing to biking and softball allow youth to realize a physical potential previously unimagined while having the time of their life!
Participating in challenging activities with peers increases and reinforces a child’s positive belief in their own abilities, building immeasurable confidence and self-esteem. At a base level, recreational activities are vital to a child’s health. Extreme Recess events help to improve respiratory capacity, circulation, heart rate, muscle tone, and consequently their quality of life.
Youth have opportunities to expand their social lives as they come from the sidelines of life to participate in the activities of their dreams. Extreme Recess brings children the joy of teammates and new friends who cheer their ability and success. The confidence, self-respect, and motivation gained during the events carry over to the classroom and empower children to passionately learn and seize each and every day.
