Global Projects

“We have learned…that our own well being is dependent on the well-being of other nations, far away… We have learned to be citizens of the world, members of the human community”

~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

We are now a global community. The survival and well being of our neighbors in developing countries has become more than just a humanitarian concern. The undeniable suffering in developing countries has led to a historic global crisis and call to action.

According to UNICEF:

  • One- half the world’s population — 3 billion people – live on less than $2 a day.
  • There are 2.2 billion children in the world — 1.1 billion live in poverty.
  • 30,000 children die every single day due to poverty. “Every year, 11 million children will die quietly, in some of the poorest villages on earth.”
  • Nearly 1 billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their name.
  • Over 253 million children — as young as 5 years old — work in Child Labor.
  • Water problems affect half of humanity – 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation.
  • The scarcity of water is causing hundreds of millions of people to migrate for survival. Migration is considered one of the defining global issues of the early 21st century, as more and more people are on the move today than at any other point in human history.

According to a 2006 United States National Security Policy Brief, climate change, water and food scarcity, and mass migration is a threat on par with terrorism. Mass instability and regional conflicts are affecting global security with potential catastrophic consequences.

Our youth have embraced their responsibilities as citizens of the world with passion and purpose. Responding to this unprecedented global crisis, this generation is reaching out with compassion for their peers who are suffering.

Dreams for Kids is now working with our Dream Leaders to develop sustainable projects where the need is great.  Our Dream Leaders, together with adults who wish to participate, will connect with youth all over the world to bring shelter, clean drinking water, education, and sustainable income to those who need it most.
Look at the projects we are working to develop and become our partner in world change!
