Extreme Recess

“After my daughter became a part of your sports program, she stopped thinking about what she couldn’t do, but what she could do… being ABLE to do so many things including rock climbing, water skiing, kayaking, etc. all with one arm has changed her life (and mine as well)!

~ Karen, Mom of Greta — Age 16, below elbow amputee

Extreme Recess gives children ages 4-24 with physical and developmental challenges the opportunity to participate in sports, often for the very first time. Adaptive sporting events from snow and water-skiing, to tennis and baseball, allow youth to realize a physical potential previously unimaginable while having the time of their lives! Our clinics function successfully by offering a 1:1 volunteer to participant ratio at each clinic so every child is engaged effectively.

The reality is most kids with disabilities have spent most of their lives on the sidelines. Having any kind of recess is extreme. Which explains why they gave this program its name. We all know that participating in challenging activities with peers increases and reinforces a child’s positive belief in their own abilities, building immeasurable confidence and self-esteem. Now every kid has that opportunity.

Extreme Recess is an entry level activity. Once a youth participates in one of our clinics we encourage them to join regular adaptive sports programming through any our many partner organizations.

Our events engage both kids with disabilities and able bodied youth and we encourage you check the schedule and join us!
