Chicago Idols @ Chicago History Museum

In the M.A.G.I.C. (Mentoring Achievement of Goals and Inspiring Champions) elective course, students have been investigating the question, who are your guiding lights and how do they help you achieve your dreams?. In pursuit of an answer, students have been studying and analyzing the people that inspire and motivate them. They are taking a close look at the paths they took to reach their success. Through this investigation, students will identify how they can find their own path to success. As a part of their investigation, they visited the Chicago History Museum to take a look at Chicago history and the individuals who accomplished their goals despite various obstacles.

Why?

The purpose of this FE is to get a closer look at the history of Chicago and the US, and the individuals who accomplished their goals despite various obstacles.

How?

Students explored 3 exhibits, Facing Freedom in America, Vivian Maier’s Chicago, and Chicago Authored. Students took notes, captured photographs, wrote down quotes and conducted additional research on the various people (artists, politicians, scientists, etc.) we encountered on this FE. This included an investigation of their own paths to success.
