Gamer’s Strategy @ Escape Artistry
Students in the Game Changers class have been pursuing the question, how can you harness the power of play?. More specifically, students have been taking a closer look at the thought process behind creating a game during the second unit of the course. In pursuit of an answer, students have been playing and analyzing a range of games. As a part of this investigation, students took part in The Railcar escape room at Escape Artistry, a company dedicated to producing immersive, imaginative, and innovative escape rooms. The students were given 60 minutes to work together, find clues, solve the riddle, get the key, and escape. It was a truly unique and immersive way to learn about game development and strategies.
Why?
The purpose of this FE was to gain insight into the design of The Railcar escape room, paying close attention to the design process and the importance of playtesting.
How?
Students worked together to successfully escape The Railcar. After playing, students talked to the lead designer of the game to learn about the process of design and refinement.
