Our Memories, Our Truth @ St. Paul’s House

Freshmen in the Who Am I? class have been purusing the question, What do your truths and memories say about who you are?. In pursuit of an answer, students have been studying the philosophies of Plato, Socrates, Artistotle, and Jung. Through readings of these philosophers, the students have been exploring the ways in which our memories inform our identities. St. Paul’s House houses and serves seniors in need of assistance – which for many seniors means dealing with the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s, diseases that impact seniors’ ability to access their memories. Students will interact with these seniors, putting together a written reflection about the specific ways memory informs identity and sociality.

Why?

The purpose of this Field Experience is to interact with and learn from the residents at St. Paul’s House.

How?

By the end of the Field Experience, students will articulate how an aspect of their belief is informed by memory – and how their beliefs might be different or change based on memory.
